The Theodore and Chandos Rice Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees is composed of individuals who knew and worked with the Rices over many decades, and were selected because of their support for and broad experience in the issues addressed by the Foundation's goals.
John Kezer, President:
John is a Denver-based attorney whose practice includes insurance, health and human resources law-including substantial work with nonprofits. Prior to his return to private practice in 1989, John worked a number of years for the State of Colorado. He held a number of administrative positions in the Department of Labor and Employment, and then served as the Colorado Commissioner of Insurance. He worked with Ted and Chandos on a variety of issues during and after his public service career.
Ron Stewart, Vice President:
Ron has been a Boulder County Commissioner since 1985, and was reelected to a four-year term of office in the 2000 election. He is active in human service issues emphasizing prevention and collaboration. Ron served in the Colorado State Senate from 1977-1985, including two years as Senate Minority Leader.
Elisabeth Borden, Treasurer:
Elisabeth has had a strong commitment to senior needs and affordable housing since the early 1980's. Working with the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors, she has created a number of in-home service programs and assisted living facilities serving frail elders. Elisabeth currently has her own firm, The Highland Group, Inc., providing development services and market research for senior and specialized housing.
L. Jerry Blanchard, Secretary:
A few years ago, Jerry retired after being an educator and administrator for 37 years in the Waterford School District in Michigan. She had the privilege of working with Chandos and Ted on many of the educational and social issues that they cared about so deeply. Currently, Jerry is teaching courses in educational leadership and administration at Wayne State University in Detroit.
Betty Proctor, Trustee:
Betty is a licensed social worker, and recently retired from a career with the Jefferson County Department of Social Services, which included representing the county as a lobbyist at the State Legislature. She has helped create and served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations dedicated to meeting the needs of families and children, and is currently the Program Director of "Helping Hearts and Hands."
Bill Hanna, Trustee:
Bill recently retired from the Colorado State Department of Human Services, where he served as Legislative Liaison to the State Legislature for 13 years, and Director of Services to the Aging for 7 years. He is currently active in assisting nonprofit organizations to become more involved and influential in the public policy arena, including legislative advocacy.
